I often read James Blundell's comic book blog, A Comic Book Addict!!, and in May 2017 he posted "So I Wrote a Comic". He described the process by which he and artist Ayoade Abobarin created a four-page comic titled "The Hipster Beard". I wanted to know more, so I invited James and Ayoade to talk about their experience.

I mentioned Sean in the previous episode and now he's on the big show to chat with me about all sorts of comic book goodness including binge reading comics, trade sharing, DC Rebirth, Grant Morrison, Sandman, Young Justice, the Treasure Valley Comic-Con, and more! I want to thank Sean again for joining me; I had a great time talking comics and whatnot with him!

I had so much fun chatting with Gregg Schigiel, the creator of PIX: One Weirdest Weekend (v1) and the forthcoming second volume, PIX: Too Super for School, which is available May 3, 2017, at your local comic shop or where finer books are sold. We talked about the publication of PIX through Image Comics, and Gregg answers many questions about PIX v1 (if you want to hear a more in-depth summary of PIX v1, listen to Episode 83). I learned a lot about Gregg's creative process and his love of bears.

Special thanks to George of the George and Tony Entertainment Show for making this conversation possible. See the Links below to find out more about George's weekly podcast about pop culture.

I talk to George Hanna, one half of the wonderful George and Tony Entertainment Show (GATES), about podcasting, comics, and comic book related media. Please listen in as two veteran geeks discuss the things they love. Plus, hear George answer the ponderous question "why comics?".

On the big show today is part one of a conversation I had with Peter Rios. If you don't know who Peter is, he is a founding member of the Comic Geek Speak podcast and overall comics aficionado. Peter was very gracious to spend over four hours (!) talking with me about a plethora of topics (see below), part of which was our talk about Terry Moore's fantastic series, Rachel Rising.

  • Intro
  • 2:30 Podcasting discussion
  • 12:45 Theatre talk
  • 36:00 Comic talk, featuring the Denver Comic Con, the New 52, Before Watchmen, the DC Nation shorts (and upcoming Teen Titans Go! animated series) & summer superhero movie talk.
  • 1:28:55 Rachel Rising discussion (warning: spoilers!)

I had a wonderful time talking with Peter, and I hope you enjoy it too. Stay tuned for the next episode where Peter and I talk about New Teen Titans: Games (and Peter makes an announcement!).

Thanks for listening!

Wow. So much for my assertion that I was gonna do more of these podcasts on a more regular basis (as you may recall from the last episode back in January). Well, no use crying over lost decibals . . . or something . . . . Regardless, I hope you enjoy this conversation I had with my dear friend and fellow comic connoisseur, Travis, aka Oddfellow on his comic review site (Update: watch Oddfellow's YouTube videos here). In this episode we talk about

  • The Ages of Comics (what defines some of them, and just what age was it that we started collecting comics)
  • The 90s (aka the Dark Age of Comics)
  • Digital Comics (pros and cons; sharing/stealing)
  • We also discuss the answers to the following questions:
    • Travis's favorite comic(s)
    • His favorite character(s)
    • And which comic character we would want to date (for the 12-year-old in us)

As I say at the end of the episode (which clocks in at 55:02), I had tons of fun talking with Travis about comics. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
